Comune di RoncofreddoThe village of Roncofreddo is located in the interland between the cities of Cesena and Rimini on the first Romagna hills.

It was a fortress around the year 1000 and shared its history with the Malatastesta lordship’s one until the XV century.

Today Roncofreddo is an agricultural centre producing in particular wines, fruit and vegetables.
The landscape is particularly striking with its hills crossed by smooth and panoramic roads, studded with castles rich in history and ancient villages, picturesque and hospitable, ideal destinations for excursions and walks.

Chiesa di RoncofreddoIt develops in a semicircle around the ruins of the fortress called Castellaccio, a civic tower and a gateway, which make a charming corner.

The parish church of St. Biagio, built during the 1700 and later renewed, is devoted to the village patron saint and houses two interesting paintings by Antonio Cimatori called Visacci.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Besides the Castellaccio fortress among the seven castles of the territory of Roncofreddo you can visit the millenary Sorrivoli castle with is uncorrupted structure and the Montelone one.

Pieve di  Santa Paola

 

The small village of Santa Paola deserves a visit, too. It is devoted to the saint who was born here around the VI century. The parish houses the mortal remains of the saint together with some painting illustrating her admirable life.
